Bethel Prayer Centre
International Ministries
OUR STORY
Bethel Prayer Centre International Ministries (BPCIM) was founded and planted in December 1, 2002 at the Women's Centre in New Addington. The name Bethel Prayer Centre was chosen to represent the main objective and theme of the ministry. The name Bethel comes from the Hebrew word Beth, meaning house, and El, meaning God. Bethel means House of God. It was at Bethel that God renamed Jacob, calling him Israel and confirmed a special blessing of fruitfulness on him. ‘This is none other but the House of God, and this is the gate of heaven; and he called the name of that place Bethel (Gen. 28:17-19).
Prayer has been the founding Principle in our ministry (Isaiah 56:7). Through prayer over the years, we have seen many lives transformed by the power of God.
The Women’s Centre was very small in size, approximately 2ft by 4ft but we continued steadfastly in much prayer and in the work of the Lord. We met regularly as a prayer group at the centre until one day a fellow minister purchased an 8 inch speaker with a microphone stand. I was taken aback as I couldn’t see why these were necessary for a prayer group but the Lord had other plans.
We kept going with much perseverance and then one Sunday we had an attendance of 30 persons. We had to seat people in the back garden but we had a great time worshiping. We were ever so grateful to God for His promise of faithfulness. We knew that God was telling us something and as we prayed we exercised our faith and began to see His strategy.
On September 7, 2004 we were successful in securing a hall at the ACA Community Centre, New Addington, Croydon. We were overjoyed as we were bursting at our seams at the Women’s Centre. Since then our lives have been revolutionized by prayers and we are continuing experiencing the awakening.
